When running emerge --sync, I get the error shown in Actual Results. It does this three times and then quits. If I manually ftp into rsync.au.gentoo.org, I can get to the gentoo-portage/metadata folder, but there is no timestamp.chk, only timestamp and timestamp.x. This happens on two different boxes of mine, both of which were syncing fine a few days ago. I don't remember having made any change to the make.conf on either of them for a little while now. If I change my SYNC var to "rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage", emerge --sync works fine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set SYNC to "rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" 2. Run emerge --sync Actual Results: jmoe@jhb5970 ~ $ sudo emerge --sync >>> Starting rsync with rsync://136.186.1.76/gentoo-portage... >>> Checking server timestamp ... ------------------------------------------------------------- F T P .
