Description Lars Wendler (Polynomial-C) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-09-09 20:37:47 UTC
Hi,

I have set up my machines to not use sys-apps/hal so the package is not installed at all. But the /usr/kde/3.5/bin/kdeeject script currently provided by kde-base/kdialog-3.5.9-r1 doesn't work without hal due to some bad shell code.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. quickpkg --include-config=y sys-apps/hal && emerge -C sys-apps/hal
2. run (for example) kdeeject /dev/dvd
3.) see kdeeject spitting out the below mentioned errormessages and actually doing nothing concerning ejecting the media...
Actual Results:
me@barcelona:~> kdeeject /dev/dvd
which: no hal-find-by-property in (/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/opt/bin:/usr/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/gcc-bin/4.2.4:/usr/kde/3.5/bin:/usr/qt/3/bin:/usr/games/bin:/home/me/bin)
/usr/kde/3.5/bin/kdeeject: line 32: hal-find-by-property: command not found
/usr/kde/3.5/bin/kdeeject: line 33: hal-find-by-property: command not found
/usr/kde/3.5/bin/kdeeject: line 35: test: too many arguments
me@barcelona:~>
(and no media was ejected)

Expected Results:
me@barcelona:~> kdeeject /dev/dvd
me@barcelona:~>
(media was ejected)

How about this possible fix? It actually works but I don't know if this fix is all POSIX sh conform...
