Hi! I just realized the I need a recent openal ;) So I hacked together the old openal-ebuild from portage an some cvs-ebuild of my own. Works for me. Greetings, Marc.

Created attachment 15721 [details] The ebuild - cleaned up Fixed IUSE, rearanged stuff, got rid of --enable-optimization since it just messes with CFLAGS, which portage handles, replaced with --enable-arch-asm, should be more benificial. Got rid of some other cruft I can't remember.

Not sure about adding a cvs ebuild for this to portage, although we *do* need a new openal snapshot in the tree. Worth taking a look at bug 32587 in the meantime. I'll pester others about whether or not a cvs ebuild for this would fly- we only have 25 CVS ebuilds in the tree (roughly).
I'd prefer to not have a cvs ebuild for this. I think we should do a little digging to figure out a stable snapshot time and just use that.
I don't think we need a cvs ebuild for this. We've got an active maintainer for the snapshot ebuilds now... See bug #41987
