By the ways: Running as root. A link, /var/tmp/portage/dev-java/sun-jdk-1.6.0.07/distdir/jdk-6u7-dlj-linux-i586.bin, does exist and points to /usr/portage/distfiles/jdk-6u7-dlj-linux-i586.bin which also exists.
i transferred USE flags from 64 bit install and did not change the amd64 flag to x86. Sorry for troubling you.

BTW, using an x86 USE flag causes similar failure in amd64 multilib system.
