Description Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2008-09-03 16:52:57 UTC
Current icon is too tall and, then, at least under gnome, looks distorted in menu

I attach a diff for the ebuild to use an alternative icon that looks better in menu

Anyway, I don't know why I need to login and logout from gnome to see new icon, as I thought that gtk-update-icon-cache were only needed when ebuilds install things in /usr/share/icons (I have seen this strange behavior in other games-* ebuilds while others work fine)

Thanks a lot

Reproducible: Always

Well, I agree the existing icon is ugly. However, the one in your patch isn't that much of an improvement imho. I changed it to use a single-pingus picture at least so it's not totally unclear what the icon is, but it's still not great.

Ideally, upstream would package a nice-looking svg file just for the icon, but you'll have to take that request upstream.

oh, and the way I get the icon to change in the menu is to just do:

killall gnome-panel

in a terminal. It restarts and that flushes the cache it had. Could be a more elegant method but it beats logging out and back in.

Thanks :-)

I have just mailed to upstream mailling list asking for this

I have seen that mandriva is providing some interesting icons for 48x48, 32x32 and 16x16 sizes
