As suggested by Remi I file a new bug because I noticed some flickers almost every time I start "UltraVNC viewer" using wine. Please ask me for more useful info.
Please post your `emerge --info' too.

I've just committed 2.4.2-r1 with a patch that tries to solve the issue. Please let me know how it works for you. Thanks
I've just tried with 2.4.2-r1 but the flickers are still here
Ok, that's a bit disappointing but not discouraging! ;) Could you paste/attach the output of "lspci -vv"? Thanks
Created attachment 164543 [details] lspci sure! here you are...
I can confirm that 2.4.2-r1 does not fix the problem. Flickering is still here (gma950 video)
Just update to xf86-video-intel git, the 2.5 branch. Flickering is gone, so this should be fixed with the next driver version.
This should read "Just updated...". I don't want to encourage people switching to a bleeding edge git release. I also only did this because I wanted to try out DRM-GEM, which the 2.5 branch should have support for. Quite impressive work if you ask me :)
(In reply to comment #8) > Just update to xf86-video-intel git, the 2.5 branch. > > Flickering is gone, so this should be fixed with the next driver version. > I just upgraded to xf86-video-intel-9999 (from the x11-overlay) and libdrm-9999. I still see flickering, but no crash or total lockdown yet. This flickering is random for me, but usually follows with a crash.
Do you happen to use fluxbox? (They had a flickering problem which is fixed in the git tree.)
(In reply to comment #11) > Do you happen to use fluxbox? (They had a flickering problem which is fixed in > the git tree.) > I've used Fluxbox, Gnome (with metacity and with compiz), only XBMC, etc. The same flicker appears on two chips, one in my Mac Mini (Intel GMA 950 i think) and the one in my htpc (a Intel DG45ID, GMA X4500HD i think).
I've just added xf86-video-intel 2.6.1 to portage. Please try with this version and a recent kernel (2.6.28 or newer). The flicker should now be gone. If it's not the case, please reopen this bug with updated information (package versions, new logs, etc). Thanks
