Description Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2008-09-02 10:07:13 UTC
The patch changes two defaults:
1. Change default font from "Monospace 13" (too huge from my point of view) to "Monospace 10" (the default GNOME font for terminals)
2. Change default browser from "firefox" to "xdg-open" (provided by xdg-utils, it launches default browser selected by each user, for example, in my case, epiphany instead of firefox)

Thanks a lot

Reproducible: Always

This patch should go upstream - Its not that I disagree with the patch, honestly, I quite like it, as these are the settings that I set personally as well, but is not something that I want to patch as I try to keep my packages as close to upstream as possible. I am going to resolve this as upstream since that is where it is should go, but I will think about adding it, I've downloaded it and will think it over, as I don't know how many desktops pull in xdg-utils, if all of them do and so forth, and I don't want to add a dependency on it just for changing the default browser.

OK, I will mail upstream suggesting this

About xdg-utils, well, I think that it could be used even not adding xdg-utils as a RDEPEND like currently is being done for firefox (that is not in DEP even being used, as only problem if not found is that web page is not opened)

Upstream seems dead or, at least, unresponsible, What about adding it for Gentoo? (maybe in the future tilda will have to be punted in favor of newer alternatives like guake or something else but, until then... :-))
