Greetings, I have set up a source mirror on cudlug.cudenver.edu, and I'm requesting it be listed. Bandwidth available is around the ballpark of 12Mbps. I'm running rsync from www.biblio.org every 4 hours as suggested, and I'm providing ftp and http access. I'll get the rsync server set up in the near future. If there is anything I missed, please let me know. HTTP path: http://cudlug.cudenver.edu/gentoo/ FTP path: ftp://cudlug.cudenver.edu/pub/mirrors/distributions/gentoo/ Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Rsync access has been added as well for both the source distribution, and for the portage tree: rsync://cudlug.cudenver.edu/gentoo rsync://cudlug.cudenver.edu/gentoo-portage rsync://cudlug.cudenver.edu/gentoo-x86-portage Also, I filed this "bug" a couple of weeks ago now, and I haven't heard from anyone. I guess I should e-mail the mirror admin list if I don't hear anything within 3 days?
We are currently in the middle of a transition in the mirror admins. This has caused a back log of bugs to handle, so we should get to this within the week. Thanks for your patience and for offering up your mirror! -C
This mirror does not appear to have been updated since 7/14. Can you double-check your update scripts to ensure they are running every 4 hours? thanks.
I had a problem using the "-z" flag with the rsync command I had set up in the crontab. I removed the flag, and the host should be syncing every 4 hours, starting at 00:00 UTC, from www.ibiblio.org::gentoo . I hope this resolves things. If not, please let me know. Test away!
Great -- thanks for checking into that. I've sent instructions on accessing our private distfiles mirror to wlsarka@ouray.cudenver.edu. This server ensures that all our mirrors can access the latest files. Please update your scripts to point to this master mirror and I'll go ahead and get you added to the site as an official mirror. Thanks. --kurt
I've updated the crontab, and it is now pointing to the private distfile mirror. Please check it out.
Just checking in to see if the mirror is being updated like you wanted. Please let me know.
Our distfiles mirror maintainer is currently on vacation. Hopefully he'll be able to back with you on this within the next couple of weeks.
Just to keep you updated, I'm now working on source mirrors. Give me a couple days, and I should be able to verify that syncing is OK. Thanks.
As of "Fri, 29 Aug 2003 15:59:50 +0000", the mirror was last updated at "Fri, 29 Aug 2003 09:55:00 +0000". Shouldn't it have synced again around 14:00?
Ok, I've corrected the problem. I had some different times in the crontab. The times in the crontab file now look like this: 00 0,4,8,12,16,20 * * * Hope that corrects it.
I haven't noticed any problems, so I'm ready to add the server to the mirrors page. I'm waiting on a couple of replies for other servers, so it might be a couple of days before it appears (I'll post when it should show up). I just now noticed the rsync server. I've added 132.194.22.137 to the access list for rsync1.us.gentoo.org. Please update your rsync cron jobs to point to rsync1.us.gentoo.org and post back here when you've done so. We'll monitor the server for a couple days to make sure things are working fine.
Ok, for the rsync portion, I'm now syncing off of rsync1.us.gentoo.org. You should see the server hitting against it every half hour now. Still syncing the source portion from the private distfile mirror. Please let me know if you have any problems.
I'm now watching the rsync mirror. The mirrors page has been updated and the changes should be visible in about 30 minutes or so. I've subscribed <wlsarka@ouray.cudenver.edu> to our gentoo-mirrors mailing list (low volume). This list is used to discuss mirror-related issues. Thanks for supporting Gentoo.
Looks like you are one of the unlucky ones. rsync1.us.gentoo.org is running out of RAM when under heavy load. As a result, some servers to sync properly. We're working on alleviating some of the load, but it might take a while to complete. If you're willing to wait until then, I'll leave this bug open and post back when ready to restart testing. In the meantime, I'm going to temporarily disable access to rsync1.us.gentoo.org. Thanks for supporting Gentoo.
> As a result, some servers to sync properly. That should have been "some servers do not sync properly."
We've resolved some load problems that rsync1.us was having. I've added the server back on the access list (should be able to sync again in about 30 minutes). Once you start syncing again, let me know and I'll start monitoring. Thanks.
Looks like you've been syncing with rsync1.us. I didn't notice any problems, so I'm ready to add it to the rotation. If you can confirm which server your syncing with, I'll add this as rsync8.us.gentoo.org. Also, please update the motd file to include that information. Thanks.
Removed from rsync1.us' access list. Were you still interested in offering this portage mirror?
rsync8.us assigned to another mirror.
Closing. If the mirror becomes available again, just reopen this bug or create a new one. Thanks for supporting Gentoo.
