Description Anders Aagaard 2008-08-30 10:19:48 UTC
MAKEOPTS="-j2" (or higher) on sys-fs/udev-124-r1 fails, while MAKEOPTS="-j1" works.

This blocks emerge system/world on modern systems with current stable packages.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. MAKEOPTS="-j2" emerge -1 udev --jobs 1
Actual Results:
  LD udevadm
  LD test-udev
  LD scsi_id
ld: unrecognized option '-Wl,-O1'
ld: use the --help option for usage information

Comment 1 Matthias Schwarzott gentoo-dev 2008-09-02 15:48:58 UTC
For now I cannot reproduce this error on my stable x86 chroot.
But: I do have a single-core cpu only.

Second: Your portage version is strange for a ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" system.

Maybe it helps to add V=1 to MAKEOPTS, so we can see which command fails.
Comment 2 Anders Aagaard 2008-09-02 18:08:22 UTC
Yeah, when I was refering to stable I ment udev packages, I'm unable to reproduce this after setting up the system, but it was completely reproducable in chroot.

I suspect it's related to binutils being pushed too far down the depgraph in portage 2.2*, closing as INVALID until I can't find the source/find a way to reproduce it reliably.
