with tpb-0.5.1 xosd-support seems to be broken -- 0.4.2 works fine.
tp portage # epm -q xosd
xosd-2.1.0
xosd-1.0.2
tp portage # emerge -pc xosd

I can verify this. 

The 0.5.1 seems to have issued with detecting the xosd library. Tried with xosd 2.1.0 and 2.1.3

Also tried forcing it with --enable-xosd, and --with-xosd-config and --without-xosd-config, but nothing seems to do the trick. Running aclocal gives:
aclocal: configure.in: 23: macro `AM_CHECK_LIBXOSD' not found in library

Suggest we mask 0.5.1 and report this upstream.

Latexer, you mentioned on IRC that you could have a look at this tonight.

Patch to configure

This patch fixes the configure script so that things are done correctly for
--{enable,disable}-xosd. Please test and report if this fixes things.
