Description Tomas Liska 2008-08-26 11:31:48 UTC
x11-plugins/gkacpi is not keyworded for amd64 but appears to work fine
Comment 1 Markus Meier gentoo-dev 2008-08-30 20:25:42 UTC
it emerges without problems, but I get this:
# gkrellm2
devices:
0 ADP1
0 BAT0
0 sleep
1 lid
2 power
0 EC
0 CPU1
1 CPU0
gkrellm segmentation fault: /usr/lib64/gkrellm2/plugins/gkacpi2.so (init_monitor)
Aborted

not sure what's wrong here. could an other person rom the amd64 test if it works?
Comment 2 Markus Meier gentoo-dev 2008-08-30 20:35:11 UTC
I get the same failure on x86 (same box, but x86 chroot) - I assume that my kernel (or so) is missing something.

lack: Can you help with this?
Comment 4 Jim Ramsay (lack) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-09-30 02:36:15 UTC
I'll see what I can find out about it - First guess is that it must be looking for some of those deprecated acpi files in /proc/acpi that aren't on by default in 2.6.26
Comment 5 Jim Ramsay (lack) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-05-21 18:49:22 UTC
Hmmm... Not likely we'll get an upstream fix for this. I found this message on the sf.net page:

"You may have noticed I stopped maintaining gkacpi, because of lack of time and recently because the functionality is now included in gkrellm.

Anyone interested in taking over pls let me know." [1]

Do you actually still need gkacpi for anything now that temperature sensing and battery display are built-in to gkrellm-2.3.2?

Ping here

Based on your comments, I assume we don't need to bother with this package anymore. If you still need this package keyworded ( even if it is not 100% working ) feel free to re-open this bug
