If i'm not mistaken, the EGIT_REPO_URI line should be before the inherit of git.

Also, don't we need to set EGIT_BOOTSTRAP and EGIT_BRANCH?
Comment 3 valentin 2008-08-22 12:33:38 UTC
in my opinion the inherit should be the first definition in the ebuild. the egit_repo_uri does only need to be there before being called. also there's no need for egit_branch if you build from master. we could produce multiple ebuilds for different branches if we want to. for the moment my intention was only to add the master ebuild for the ones willing to try the driver with the latest xorg-server code, since the portage one is too old to work (4 months) and the abi has changed since then.
the egit_bootstrap for the moment isn't needed since you don't need to run the autogen. the ebuild just skips it if the variable is not defined.

okay, then i may have misunderstood something from the "guys on irc" ;)

as for other branches, i'd say we wait a bit with this. the branches which exist are definitely interesting, but they are also definitely unstable. people who are really interested in the branches will know how to get them.

well, i'm always eager to learn new stuff. if you could explain what you've heard on this matter i'd be glad to check out. maybe you're right and i've missed something.

I've had a live ebuild in my overlay for a long time now. Use layman to "layman -a je_fro" and you're in business.
