Description Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-08-21 18:25:34 UTC
The previous 1.6.3 ebuild tell the user that src_test() won't be run and why this is so. The 1.6.3-r2 ebuild suggests that running with FEATURES=-sandbox or FEATURES=userpriv might have the ebuild run some tests, which it doesn't - it still displays that uninformative message and does nothing else.

The einfo message prior r2 was:

einfo "Testing is being debugged, disabled for now"

Can you please explain to me where you can read "... src_test() won't be run and why this is so"? I am pretty sure that nobody had really debugged the tests because than they would have removed the tcl dependency earlier and would have seen that tests won't run without tcl.

einfo "Tests do not run in sandbox ..."

This message my be ambiguous but are a better explanation for the core but not only reason why the tests don't work. I am going to change the message to

einfo "Tests do not run in sandbox, have a lot of dependencies and are therefore completely disabled."

Is this ok for you?
