Description Konstantin 2008-08-20 15:43:57 UTC
Hello, I think, I found a bug, but couldn't clearly understand, what bug it is. So I report it here.
I pointed my firefox to link
http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Changes_v1.0.17a_v1.0.18rc1
and Xorg crashed. The only error message I've get, was

Tab readonly?
30 95 68 78
cl:	calcTabClr
Tab readonly?
30 95 68 78
Backtrace:
0: X(xf86SigHandler+0x86) [0x80d725c]

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting

I want to attache backtrace, but do not know, how to debug Xorg, which I run via startx script.
 Software version:
www-client/mozilla-firefox-3.0.1 (USE="custom-optimization dbus gnome java linguas_en startup-notification xulrunner")
x11-base/xorg-server-1.3.0.0-r6 (USE="dri input_devices_keyboard input_devices_mouse nptl sdl video_cards_i810 xorg")
gcc --version
gcc (Gentoo 4.3.1-r1 p1.1) 4.3.1...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. startx
2. open in firefox http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Changes_v1.0.17a_v1.0.18rc1
3.

Actual Results:
segmentation fault

Expected Results:
no fault.

There is no problem, if I download the page by other program and open it from disk.

Try with a clean profile and with -bin.
Comment 4 Nico R. Wohlgemuth 2008-09-16 16:43:36 UTC
firefox 3.X segfaults for me on random sites too.

example sites:
- thepiratebay.org search result page
- MANY OTHERS

When the piratebay search result page is loading and I click "stop loading this page" it does not segfault. This works on some others too.

It just segfaults. I don't know if this is flash related but I think it's not since there was no flash code at all on some sites where it segfaults. Also it's not add-on related I have tested this with a clean profile and no add-ons.

This is really annoying.
Comment 5 Konstantin 2008-09-17 03:33:20 UTC
hm, i'm visited http://www.hardcoreradio.nl/ without problem. nico, what about my link?
Comment 6 Nico R. Wohlgemuth 2008-09-17 12:01:53 UTC
The alsa page works for me. Hmm this is so random.

Comment 8 Konstantin 2008-09-22 16:38:46 UTC
Raúl, may you explain a little bit, what is clean profile? And what do you mean by "-bin"? There is no such USE-flag. Or do you speak about www-client/mozilla-firefox-bin?

Yes, i'm speaking about that. And with a clean profile, i mean move away your ~/.mozilla dir, and try running firefox again.

3.0.2 changelog says:
- A random crash that occurred with some layout tables was fixed.

Maybe that is the problem here, let's see if the problems happen with 3.0.2 too.
Comment 11 Nico R. Wohlgemuth 2008-09-25 15:55:35 UTC
Yup, no crashes so far with 3.0.2, I have tested various sites which crashed 3.0.1 for me. So this is an upstream problem which is fixed in 3.0.2.

Konstantin? Anything new here?
Comment 13 Raúl Porcel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-11-23 12:35:53 UTC
Reopen if so
Comment 14 Konstantin 2008-11-23 14:18:09 UTC
Sorry for not answering. With clean profile everything works. But I couldn't use firefox this way, because of bookmarks. I've tried to delete firefox extentions, but it still crashs from time to time. Any advice, how to deal with crashs?
