After installing app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-gtklibs-20080810 as a part of my normal daily update, mosilla-firefox-bin failed. Upon typing firefox-bin, I received an error which will be described below. gtklibs-20080810 masked until I find the problem
Suse 11.0 had the same problem and it was related to atk and pango as I recall.

upgrading to a newer glib solves the problem for me (but not tested with firefox, only zattoo).
It also works fine for me with 20081109
