The kernel-2 eclass had a fix for ppc for the arch/ppc/Makefile.  This file no longer exists and the fix does not reference a bug so I'm not sure what the problem was though the sandbox was mentioned.

I have since removed the sed for kernels >= 2.6.27 but I'm not sure if I need to apply the patch to arch/powerpc/Makefile.

Can someone test any 2.6.27 git version and let me know if there are any sandbox issues?

Sorry about not getting to this sooner.

Actually, the offending code is still there on newer kernels (I think I remember it only bothering genkernel  builds).  The correct action would be the patch attached below.
