The ebuild seems severly broken and does not compile for me due to several problems: 1. The patch "kde.patch" in line 27 of the ebuild does not apply to the svxlink-080102 snapshot - only for the preceeding one. That section is commented out in the new snapshot. 2. Leaving out the patch the package fails because of an unusual Makefile construct. It requires the generation of an '.config' file, which is not generated by emake in time before needed. As a quickfix you can do a emake clean # as a side effect generates the .config emake all # compiles the source in source_compile(). 3. The ebuild misses two dependencies: RDEPEND needs 'media-lib/spandsp' to compile DEPEND needs 'dev-util/pkg-config' for creating the '.config' Using the above fixes it compiles for me. emerge --info Portage 2.1.4.4 (default-linux/x86/2007.0/desktop, gcc-4.1.2, glibc-2.6.1-r0, 2.6.24-gentoo-r8 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.24-gentoo-r8 i686 AMD Sempron(TM) 3000+ Timestamp of tree: Wed, 06 Aug 2008 11:15:01 +0000 distcc 2.18.3 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] ccache version 2.4 [enabled] app-shells/bash: 3.2_p33 dev-java/java-config: 1.3.7, 2.1.6 dev-lang/python: 2.4.4-r13, 2.5.2-r6 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r6 dev-util/ccache: 2.4-r7 sys-apps/baselayout: 1.12.11.1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.18.1-r2 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.61-r2 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10.1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.18-r3 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.0-r4 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.26 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.23-r3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -mtune=athlon-4" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/udev/rules.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -mtune=athlon-4" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="ccache collision-detect distlocks fetch-parallel metadata-transfer sandbox sfperms strict unmerge-orphans userfetch" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo" LINGUAS="de en en_US" MAKEOPTS="-j1" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/portage/local/layman/sunrise /usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.de.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X acl acpi alsa apache arts berkdb bzip2 cairo cdr cli cracklib crypt cscope cups dbus dri dvd dvdr dvdread eds emboss encode esd evo fam firefox fltk fortran gdbm gif gnome gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 hal iconv ipv6 isdnlog jpeg kde kerberos logrotate mad midi mikmod mp3 mpeg mudflap mysql ncurses nls nptl nptlonly ogg opengl openmp oss pam pcre pdf perl png portaudio pppd python qt qt3 qt3support qt4 quicktime readline reflection sdl server session sndfile spell spl ssl svg svga tcpd tiff truetype vorbis win32codecs x86 xml xorg xv zlib" ALSA_CARDS="ali5451 als4000 atiixp atiixp-modem bt87x ca0106 cmipci emu10k1 emu10k1x ens1370 ens1371 es1938 es1968 fm801 hda-intel intel8x0 intel8x0m maestro3 trident usb-audio via82xx via82xx-modem ymfpci" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mmap_emul mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" APACHE2_MODULES="actions alias auth_basic auth_digest authn_anon authn_dbd authn_dbm authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cache dav dav_fs dav_lock dbd deflate dir disk_cache env expires ext_filter file_cache filter headers ident imagemap include info log_config logio mem_cache mime mime_magic negotiation proxy proxy_ajp proxy_balancer proxy_connect proxy_http rewrite setenvif so speling status unique_id userdir usertrack vhost_alias" ELIBC="glibc" INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" LINGUAS="de en en_US" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="mga vmware vesa" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, INSTALL_MASK, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS
Additional tests on a second machine showed that the package compiles cleanly if kde.pactch is dropped and the dependencies are fixed as in number 1 and 3 of the above comment. The .config file gets build on that machine at the start of the compilation process.
Found the cause of the 'make' problem. If you have by accident a '.config' file in '/' the 'make' command will not rebuild the needed '.config' file in the base directory of the package. I will inform the upstream package manager about the problem.
Created attachment 162829 [details] Patch to correct 'Makefile' to fix the mentioned '.config' problem Upstream provided that patch to fix the problem with the '.config' generation. It is in their tree for the next release. Tested to work with svxlink-080102.ebuild.
Created attachment 162830 [details] Patch to fix the svxlink-080102.ebuild The patch drops the 'kde.patch' from earlier version, applies the fix for for the '.config' problem (see comment #3) and adds the missing packages to DEPEND and RDEPEND.
Looks alright, is there a version bump ready now or just this fix?
(In reply to comment #5) > Looks alright, is there a version bump ready now or just this fix? > I guess I could have just looked myself. 080730 is available, do you have an ebuild for that too? perhaps a simple rename?
(In reply to comment #6). With the above fixes a simple rename to svxlink-080730 will do (see my mail to you...)
(In reply to comment #7) > (In reply to comment #6). > With the above fixes a simple rename to svxlink-080730 will do (see my mail to > you...) > Ok, I didn't know what that meant, it is clear now. ;)
patched, version bump, and removed old version. Please sync and give me a sanity check by remerging if you don't mind. thanks for your contribution!
Synced and rebuild. Works as expected. Thanks for help Jeremy!
