Description Matthew Schultz 2008-07-31 16:24:08 UTC
/etc/init.d/hsf isn't starting:

/lib64/rc/sh/runscripts.sh: line 117: .: /usr/sbin: is a directory

After a little investigation, it looks as though $1 in runscripts.sh is getting /usr/sbin instead of /usr/sbin/rchsf. I'm not sure if this is a problem with openrc-0.2.5 or hsfmodem.

Just for a little test, I removed the symlink and copied /usr/sbin/rchsf (the file it was linking to) into /etc/init.d as hsf and then started it. It then proceeded to start fine.

I also noticed that /usr/sbin/hsfstop is complaining about too many arguments when stopping /etc/init.d/hsf (if you remove the symlink and copy the rchsf to /etc/init.d):

/usr/sbin/hsfstop: line 62: [: too many arguments
/usr/sbin/hsfstop: line 65: return: too many arguments

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge hsfmodem
2. hsfconfig
3. /etc/init.d/hsf start

Actual Results:
/lib64/rc/sh/runscripts.sh: line 117: .: /usr/sbin: is a directory

Expected Results:
Starting Conexant HSF softmodem

I don't see anything syntactically wrong in /usr/sbin/hsfstop and runscript should be happy with symlinked init scripts.
Reassigned to base-system team.

Looks like /usr/sbin/hsfstop just has problems when it tries to output something. I don't have any problems with it if the /etc/init.d/hsf file is not a symlink.

Which means it's not our bug.
Comment 4 Alin Năstac (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-09-25 20:49:29 UTC
Apparently you are the only one having this problem, so I'm closing this as INVALID.
