Description Santiago Gala 2008-07-31 14:38:29 UTC
Since I upgrated nspluginwrapper to 1.1.0 it is consistently crashing when I have two tabs with different flashlets around.

Note I have flashblock installed, which could make a difference re: how flash gets loaded and gets control.

So please check, without any add-on, but the supported x11-plugins/noscript, if it makes a difference. We do not have the ressources to check for arbitrary Firefox add-on breakage. Which flash version are you running?

I have masked net-www/nspluginwrapper-1.1.0, hopefully the next release will be more stable.
Comment 3 Santiago Gala 2008-07-31 22:30:04 UTC
It kept crashing without flashblock, I guess the plugin is really unstable, at least for 64 bits and firefox 3. It looked like epiphany behaved much better with it here.

I wonder if this is related or if it is a different problem.
Situation on amd64:
1. x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-100.14.09
2. net-www/netscape-flash-9.0.124.0
3. www-client/mozilla-firefox-2.0.0.15 , or
    www-client/mozilla-firefox-bin-2.0.0.14, or
    www-client/mozilla-firefox-bin-2.0.0.15, or
www-client/mozilla-firefox-bin-3.0.1-r1 <<< preferred because it can handle a few (flash required) sites that -2.0.xx series can't >>>
4. www-client/opera-9.51

Suppose I use firefox-bin (or firefox) for some page which uses flash.

Now, suppose I bring up opera on the same page, and opera also knows where flash plugin is.

Then, often (always?) firefox locks up. One or two, er, "applications" can also cause this, but I haven't traced them back too far yet. If I recall, they (well, it) are run under wine, but I can't say for sure. (The one I am thinking of is run under wine and is very heavily threaded or whatever windows calls it.)

I think that maybe your problem is because of:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=456432

A patch for xulrunner and other for nspluginwrapper would be needed for fixing these crashes, can you check it?

The patches are posted in redhat bugzilla
