Removing only the file ~/.strigi/daemon.conf also solves the problem. Though, strigidaemon creates exactly the same file again then (I never touched the file myself) and thus has the same problem after a restart. Seems strigi-0.5.9 is completely broken.
On my 64-bit system strigi has been installed into /usr/lib64/strigi/, while soprano and all *-strigi-analyzer packages had been installed into /usr/kde/4.1/lib64/strigi/, so the following solved the problem: cd /usr/lib64/strigi/ ln -s /usr/kde/4.1/lib64/strigi/* .
solution works here.
Strigi 0.6 works suprisingly good in 4.2. So i assume this fixed. Feel free to reopen if it is still borked.
