/usr/lib/syslinux/mbr.bin should be really /usr/share/syslinux/mbr.bin on 2008.0 syslinux /dev/sdc1 would lead to a message that file blah.conf (can't remember the exact name) contains an error on line 3. should comment that line out to match the rest of the file. We (releng) have nothing to do with this document. It was originally written by some developer who isn't a member of releng and has now retired.
Bugs against documentation (/doc/en/) should be assigned to the GDP (docs-team@), unless it's a /proj/en/ doc, in which case it should go to that project. This one should have gone to us. Fixed now.
Excuse me, fixed what? Have you managed to get a working live-usb system following the howto?
The document is fixed to point to the correct location of mbr.bin.
