Description craigthulu 2002-05-02 05:55:04 UTC
stage1-ix86-1.1a.tbz2 fails to compile groff when running the
/usr/portage/scripts/bootstrap.sh process.

We are going to need more than this. What was the exact error? What is your
hardware? What method of installation are you using and what version?
Comment 2 Daniel Robbins (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-05-02 22:06:34 UTC
Craigthulu: could it be that you mistakenly added "build" to your USE variables,
or that you forgot to bootstrap? Both of these mistakes will caue the failure
you are describing.
Comment 3 craigthulu 2002-05-03 22:08:03 UTC
I was running the bootstrap and the c++ compiler couldn't be found (at least
that is what the groff ebuild was claiming). I believe that this is a duplicate
of another bug report that was mentioned on the list a few days ago.
Comment 4 Daniel Robbins (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-05-05 00:27:52 UTC
OK, this should be fixed now. I removed "gd" support from our glibc ebuilds,
which pulls in all sorts of insane junk when USE="gd" is enabled. You were
enabling that variable, weren't you? :)
Comment 5 craigthulu 2002-05-05 02:19:44 UTC
Yes, of course I was :)

I have most things enabled except arts esd and mbox.
