media-libs/pixman-0.11.8 makes the system crash totally and I have no other solution than using the shutdownbutton to stop the computer. The crash happens when XDM is launched, when I try to read some videos with xine (did not try any other app) when using firefox it crashes randomly. With this version, xulrunner won't compile, saying that pixman lacks sse support. Reverting back to stable version solved the problem, so I did not do further investigation. I am using fluxbox as a WM, I don't know if it happens with other WMs, so I rank it a critical, because it causes you to lose everything you were doing Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge pixman-0.11.8 2. launch WM 3. try reading a video Actual Results: complete system freeze, mouse unmovable only verr num updates its led and not caps lock. Expected Results: complete system freeze, mouse unmovable only verr num updates its led and not caps lock. well it should not have freezed

Any log files in /var/log/Xorg.log or /var/log/messages related to the crash? You aren't giving us much information to research this. Thanks.
nothing in /var/log/messages, and in the /var/log/Xorg.log there is a message about changing modes when the crash is related to xdm, otherwise nothing
Fixing category name (confusion between media-libs/libpixman and x11-libs/pixman)
0.12.0 has been out for a while. Please don't hesitate to reopen this bug if you can still reproduce with an updated X stack. Thanks
