freemat does not compile successfully on amd64:

Additional info on freemat:
freemat also requires arpack, and arpack does not compile with mpich.
Therefore mpich needs to be removed and replaced by another mpi, e.g. openmpi.
This seems to be a known issue.

It seems to be a gcc bug on amd64 multilib for version < 4.3. Anyway I believe this is fixed now in cvs. Please re-open this bug if not.

We're working on making openmpi the default mpi implementation. Also, see bug #212199.
