Description Niko Efthymiou 2008-07-21 11:04:43 UTC
I am not sure if this is a bug or not, but anyway. On my system after an uptime of 4 days there as about 40 console-kit-daemon processes. This somehow doesnot feel right. Is this normal behavure?

Killing them doesn't seem to affect system operation.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
I can't exactly reproduce this. It just happens over time.

Actual Results:
$ ps -A | grep console-kit | wc -l
43

$ emerge --info

Yes it's normal behavior. I don't remember a link off to the top of my head. But some basic Googling will give you info. Basically you need 1 process per terminal/console/etc.
Comment 2 Niko Efthymiou 2008-07-21 18:58:36 UTC
well I don't have 40 terminals open.
Comment 3 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-21 19:07:01 UTC
You have 40 X application windows, terminals, etc opened.
