Description Dennis Schridde 2008-07-20 21:40:55 UTC
People tell me there should be an Intel Pro 1000 network adapter in my VirtualBox config panel, though I only have the two PCNet types (II and III).
Their changelog even mentions that adapter for the 1.6.2 release, so it was not removed recently.

Reproducible: Always

hi,
unluckily is not possibile to choose/use an Intel Pro 1000 network adapter
in the latest VirtualBox open source edition (VirtualBox 1.6.2 OSE edition).

I can confirm that this Nic is present in the PUEL/binary edition

Comment 2 Dennis Schridde 2008-07-23 21:20:16 UTC
So it was taken out of the OSE? Since I remember having some Intel thing in one of the older versions.
I guess FreeNode's #vbox doesn't know its own software then. ;)

-> CLOSED/INVALID

i think yes but at this point i will ping virtualbox's developers to clear
this out.

or maybe this could be a mistake, stay tuned :)

Update,
i got an answer from upstream (quick as usual :D),
The E1000 driver isn't currently shipped with VirtualBox OSE edition,
a the moment is difficult to say what are the plans for this adapter in
the OSE edition.

So my personal suggestion is to use the PUEL edition of virtualbox[1]
if you need that adapter to run your guests.

Thanks Alessio, this is clearly not our issue then, so we can close it as UPSTREAM
