People tell me there should be an Intel Pro 1000 network adapter in my VirtualBox config panel, though I only have the two PCNet types (II and III). Their changelog even mentions that adapter for the 1.6.2 release, so it was not removed recently. Reproducible: Always

I can confirm that this Nic is present in the PUEL/binary edition
So it was taken out of the OSE? Since I remember having some Intel thing in one of the older versions. I guess FreeNode's #vbox doesn't know its own software then. ;) -> CLOSED/INVALID

Update, i got an answer from upstream (quick as usual :D), The E1000 driver isn't currently shipped with VirtualBox OSE edition, a the moment is difficult to say what are the plans for this adapter in the OSE edition. So my personal suggestion is to use the PUEL edition of virtualbox[1] if you need that adapter to run your guests. [1] app-emulation/virtualbox-bin
