To prevent confusion, I should add that the 2.6.24 kernel was running at the time of compilation but the /usr/src/linux pointed to the new and compiled 2.6.25 kernel.

Just so's you knows, I have this same problem, running 2.6.25-gentoo-r6 and trying to compile openafs-1.4.6_p20080222 against it. Usually running "module-rebuild rebuild" after booting a new kernel takes care of me, this time it didn't. This isn't any sort of cross-kernel issue, running one and compiling against another.

Same problem here on amd64
Comment 4 Viktor Ahlsten 2008-08-04 12:17:22 UTC
I have the same problem with 2.6.25 kernel and OpenAFS 1.4.6.
AFAIK the bug is due to the fact that the iget() function has been removed as of the 2.6.25 kernel. Until this is handled by portage I guess one could build from later OpenAFS source, or perhaps patch 1.4.6 to not use iget...
Comment 5 Viktor Ahlsten 2008-08-04 12:44:25 UTC
Unmasked OpenAFS 1.4.7 (which is noted as unstable for x86) and it emerged just fine, so it must not use iget...

I was able to do that too. However, emerging gnome tries to downgrade to openafs-kernel-1.4.6_p20080222 and failes. Don't know how to solve that. no help on the forum.

Does this problem remain? Does "emerge -pvt gnome" provide you with any hints as to why it would want to downgrade openafs-kernel?

Haven't heard anything in 10 months. Closing
