pysnmp-2.0.8 is the stable version. 3.3.4 is the experimental version. This ebuild works on both.
sorry if it sounds like i'm ignoring this, but i'm actually testing this .. so hang tight ..
i've added pysnmp-2.0.8 to the tree. i'm not so sure about 3.3.4, because its an experimental version (as the homepage says). if it can be cleanly slotted, then that would be better. although the good thing is that nothing depends on pysnmp yet. can you say anything about the stability of pysnmp 3.3.4 so to convince me its worth putting into the tree? :) also, are there any apps that use pysnmp? i wrote something a couple of years ago to communicate with lucent wireless access point using pysnmp, but that was with pysnmp-1 :(
No, I can't really vouch for pysnmp 3.3.4. I've tested it with OpenMapper http://sourceforge.net/projects/openmapper but as OpenMapper isn't quite beta yet its hard for me to tell if its a problem with 3.3.4 or not. Its the only application I'm aware of that uses 3.3.4. I personally haven't used any other apps that use 2.0.8, I've just been experimenting with 2.0.8 with my own code and find it reliable.
alright . i'm leaving 3.3.4 out of the portage for the moment. thanks for your submission.
