Emerging spamassassin fails because it can't find the version of HTML-Parser it needs. This looks like a missing/incorrect dependency to me. I just tried 3.2.4 and am getting the same message. I've tried perl-cleaner modules, but it reports nothing to do.
OK. Not sure what's going on, but on a whim I re-emerged HTML-Parser manually (after trying "revdep-rebuild" and "perl-cleaner all") and it works now. Any idea what would cause this and how to detect it in future?
(In reply to comment #2) > Any idea what would cause this and how to detect it in future? Since you re-emerged the perl package, which was problematic, the system state to be able to evaluate, if it's a PEBKAC issue or a perl-cleaner bug maybe, is gone. In the latter case there is a good chance someone else will file face the problem and file another bug. In general the various update scripts are (currently needed and acceptable) prototypic hacks, working around a missing Portage rebuild/plugin infrastrusture. With regards to perl-cleaner, the script hasn't been 100% reliable for me in the past and has known issues, as e.g. highlighted by scons rebuild problem.
