Description Tom Cocagne 2008-07-12 18:38:02 UTC
0.6.22 fails to include the file /usr/lib/python<version>/site-packages/avahi/__init__.py which is required for the Python Avahi bindings to function. Copying this file from a previous installation allowed 0.6.22 to work.

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-13 23:11:54 UTC
Please post the actual error lines instead a vague description and provide `emerge --info` output.
Comment 2 Tom Cocagne 2008-07-14 19:11:29 UTC
There are no ebuild error lines to include, the installation succeeds. I don't know how to be less vague than than "after installation /usr/lib/python<version>/site-packages/avahi/__init__.py does not exist" Previous installations included this file. In order for the Avahi python bindings to function, this file must be installed.

Additionally, the same problem occured for python 2.4 & 2.5.

This should be fixed with 0.6.24. You need to enable the dbus and gtk use flags for proper python support.
