Either mpich2 should have provided virtual/mpi or fftw should be happy with mpich2 installed. What is the problem with my setup?

Comment 1 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-09 19:15:24 UTC
There is an mpi use flag, so it isn't forced on you.
Comment 2 Martin Mokrejš 2008-07-09 19:19:33 UTC
So why did not mpich2 provide it?
Comment 3 Martin Mokrejš 2008-07-09 19:20:08 UTC
And why isn't it respected by fftw-3.1.2-r1?
Comment 4 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-09 19:46:14 UTC
> So why did not mpich2 provide it?

Well, it does. All you install is a virtual package, just some package manager information.

> And why isn't it respected by fftw-3.1.2-r1?

Looking at the ebuilds dependencies, it does not depend on an mpi implementation at all.
