Fullscreen images are not found by wesnoth, though they do exist. After emerging 1.4.3, I launched wesnoth, started a campaign (to see if a map would load), and ended the campaign and exited: $ wesnoth [snip] 20080708 22:14:42 error display: could not open image 'maps/mainmenu.jpg' 20080708 22:14:42 error display: Could not find title image 20080708 22:14:47 error display: could not open image 'story/summer.jpg' 20080708 22:14:50 error display: could not open image 'story/bigmap.jpg' 20080708 22:14:50 error display: could not open image '' 20080708 22:15:01 error display: Could not find title image I'm not sure where it's looking for them, but here they are: $ ls -l /usr/share/games/wesnoth/data/core/images/maps total 3688 -rw-r----- 1 root games 519971 Jul 8 21:40 mainmenu.jpg -rw-r----- 1 root games 493850 Jul 8 21:40 mainmenu.png -rw-r----- 1 root games 1060901 Jul 8 21:40 wesnoth-httt.jpg -rw-r----- 1 root games 1676015 Jul 8 21:40 wesnoth.png And the ones from the campaign: $ ls -l /usr/share/games/wesnoth/data/campaigns/The_South_Guard/images/story total 120 -rw-r----- 1 root games 41443 Jul 8 21:40 bigmap.jpg -rw-r----- 1 root games 27074 Jul 8 21:40 fall.jpg -rw-r----- 1 root games 19345 Jul 8 21:40 summer.jpg -rw-r----- 1 root games 25497 Jul 8 21:40 winter.jpg I tried the other builds in portage as well: in 1.4.2 the same problems happen; in 1.2.8 the title image is found, but not the campaign images. Use the default/linux/amd64/2008.0/desktop profile. Right now, you're probably missing the jpeg use flag.
(In reply to comment #1) > Use the default/linux/amd64/2008.0/desktop profile. Right now, you're probably > missing the jpeg use flag. > You're right, I don't have the jpeg USE flag. I never worked with ebuilds before, but it looks to me like portage should be able to let me know about this problem and not let me emerge wesnoth until I've fixed it. For instance, by adding this to pkg_setup(): if ! built_with_use media-libs/sdl-image jpeg ; then die "Please emerge media-libs/sdl-image with USE=\"jpeg png\"" fi That is of course, assuming that my not having jpeg support in sdl-image is the only problem. I'm not at home right now to verify it, but I'll let you know soon. Can't play games at work :(
yes, we'll fix it later with use flag deps.
Hi again. I'm just confirming that the lack of jpeg support in sdl-image was in fact the problem. Now back to my campaign--to arms!
great, thanks for verifying. We'll fix it up later so I'll mark this bug LATER.
bugzilla
added use-based deps to the latest version.
