Description Gian 2008-07-07 23:34:16 UTC
KDM looks ugly in the default settings. IMO anti-aliasing should be activated by default (i.e. AntiAliasing=true in kdmrc).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install the default kdmrc
2.
3.

Actual Results:
No anti-aliasing

Expected Results:
Beautiful anti-aliased font

The kdm maintainer told me antialiasing=False is the default because antialias looks bad on crts with only 96 dpi.

maybe a use flag would be nice

OK, I see. I've been using an LCD for 9 years. :)

That would be a possiblity, though I'm not sure this is necessary. After all, what other ebuild has a use flag for something you can set in a configuration file? I think an einfo will do.

Do we really want to fix something that is already working? I see no reason to increase the maintenance effort for this package when the setting can easily be changed in the configuration file.

Seeing it as something cosmetic that can be changed pretty easily and that upstream has justified, I think it's fair to leave things as they are.
