I had a similar problem with 4.3.1. After update /usr/lib64/gcc was gone. This time it is only almost as bad. /usr/lib64/gcc still there. /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.3.1 still there. If you do the upgrade with Portage, do you have any problems?
oh great. I complaint to the wrong people. With portage everything is fine. So it is a pkgcore bug.
