Description Adam Bolte 2003-06-19 02:35:47 UTC
Using Gentoo Live CD RC4: There is a little blue box with spinning slashes in
it. I think it occurs when hardware is being automatically detected, but it's
hard to tell because I can't press shift+PgUp to see.

The blue box just keeps on running along, chewing up my screen preventing me
from seeing what I'm typing. It's hard to describe. When I log in and get a
prompt, the blue box goes to the end of the current line. Pressing enter for a
new prompt will cause the box to jump down to the current line and repeat the
process eventually making that line all blue also.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot live CD with no options. I use a PowerColor Radeon 8500 Evil Master II
Multi-Display Edition video card on an Asus A7N8X Deluxe.
2. Watch. You'll see it - trust me.
Actual Results:
Annoying screen corruption.

Expected Results:
A screen that shows what I'm typing.

Can be corrected by using passwd and entering in via another virtual terminal
(ALT+F2).

this is caused by hwsetup segfaulting when detecting hardware, it
has been fixed in recent livecds, sorry this bug report was not
addressed sooner.
