Description Sybren Harmsma 2003-06-17 13:17:16 UTC
I updated the ebuild for app-games/gnocatan. gnocatan-0.7.1-r2.ebuild (see below)
is based on gnocatan-0.7.1-r1.ebuild. I updated the ebuild so that the program
uses the new meta-server (gnocatan.debian.net) to find people to play against. The
old one does no longer work.

Sybren - thanks for the update. I've gone ahead and changed the metaserver
for gnocatan, but this game is in serious need of an update and it looks like
the project has died. I found it very unstable while testing it. I think
eventually it will exceed the support that Gentoo is able to provide.

The CVS version of the game is much better. I hope they will make a new release soon. A friend of mine has already created some security patches, and I think he will get write access to the CVS and speed up the bugfixing.

Also, the instability might be related to optimizations during compiling. For some reason the stability is better on Debian. I will investigate this further.

I could also create a CVS ebuild, but I'm not sure if there is demand for it. IMO it would be best to ask "upstream" for a new release.

Oh, BTW don't go to http://gnocatan.sourceforge.net/. The site is outdated. I think it would be better to use http://sourceforge.net/projects/gnocatan for HOMEPAGE.

And thanks for improving the ebuild I submitted.
