media/sound-grip does not install documentation. This means that none of the buttons in the Help tab work. Tom
Actually, it does install the documentation, but the help buttons don't work. Presumably they invoke gnome-help which is not listed as a grip dependency, but should be??
On my machine (i don't have all of gnome installed) it tries to invoke mozilla (via gnome-moz-remote) and consequently fails because i don't have mozilla. gnome-help-browser is nowhere to be found. Once i find it i'll see if installing it fixes the problem.
gnome-moz-remote is part of gnome-libs and gnome-help is part of yelp adding this to the deps would kinda bloat things up a bit ;)
Should be WONTFIX
The "wontfix" designation doesn't make any sense to me. Grip is a *gnome* application, and at least on my desktop it is the only gnome application with broken help support. According to the grip sourceforge site the help is supported and working on other OSes, so it appears that this problem only happens on Gentoo. On my sysem I get: "ghelp:///usr/share/gnome/help/grip/C/grip.html" is not a valid location. Please check the spelling and try again. I think this should get fixed. At least an explaination of why grip help shouldn't work on Gentoo should be provided so users can understand their options.
I found that emerging yelp made the help buttons work, as hinted at below. But I already had gnome-libs emerged, and that was not sufficient. If yelp is what's needed in general, and it's not made a dependency, perhaps at least the emerge could be modified to print this information. (This isn't very useful, but it's better than nothing.) And could someone who's allowed to change the name of this bug so it's easier to find? (E.g., "media-sound/grip help buttons don't work".)
