I've try to make a presentation with xelatex (I'd like to use special fonts). I'd like few colored figures, in this presentation, which are in pdf format. I use the \includegraphics[height=...]{filename} command (without the extension). Then the final pdf generated by xelatex doesn't show these figures. However the spaces are reserved. And some older pdf figures are shows up. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Take an (xe)latex document. Generate a figure in pdf with GIMP (i've tried with 2.4.6). Include the figure in the latex source with \includegraphics. Compile it with xelatex.=> The figures are not shown. Expected Results: The final pdf should show these figures. My debian-box at work can do this task without problem. The version number of xelatex in debian says: 3.141592-2.2-0.996-patch2 while on gentoo: 3.141592-2.2-0.996 and in the source files of the debian packages there is a diff which says: + * add a patch to xdvipdfmx to re-allow inclusion of tagged pdf images + (Closes: #483019) (big thanks to Jonathan Kew for tracking all this down) Seeing this bug report, this bug is almost the same as I have. It is possible, to "refresh" the texlive-core or texlive-xetex package to include this relatively new patch?
Which app-text/texlive-core ebuild revision do you have installed?
The most recent in the portage tree: texlive-core-2007-r13. Oh. I forgot to say, this problem showed up after I've updated poppler.
Do you get the same warnings running xdvipdfmx as on the debian bug report ? That's probably it, and I'm not sure which route to chose: continue with our separate xdvipdfmx or use the texlive one (which will have the same problem but will be fixed for 2008). Anyway, app-text/xdvipdfmx is probably the culpit here.
this should be fixed in tl-core-2008-r3
