The SMP boot kernel on gentoo-3stages-x86-1.4_rc4.iso does not have promise
support enabled in the kernel, or just flat out didn't detect my controller. It
works with the 'gentoo' boot kernel.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.insert boot cd
2.boot :)
3.type smp at the prompt

Actual Results:  
Boots fine, but without pdc202xx support

Please reopen if issue still exists on newest livecds.
