I set up a new mirror in Czech republic. We are one of the largest ISPs here and make heavy use of opensource. As we would like to give back to the community, this seems to be the best way to do it. tech. details: Xeon 3220 8GB RAM 11x WD4000YR RAID5 2x1GBit connection directly to our backbone Backbone connectivity 40Gbps to Czech peer - nix.cz and over 20Gbps to our parent network - Aorta. urls: http://gentoo.mirror.dkm.cz/pub/gentoo ftp://gentoo.mirror.dkm.cz/pub/gentoo rsync://gentoo.mirror.dkm.cz/gentoo-portage and rsync://gentoo.mirror.dkm.cz/gentoo-source I am aware of the statement, that there are enough mirrors already, but we also want to use the mirror for ourselves and maybe later on more mirrors are needed and this one could come in handy. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
It would be lovely to have at least some feedback, even 'not now' ... :(
Looks okay: HOSTNAME: gentoo.mirror.dkm.cz IP: 86.49.49.49 Checked at | Timestamp | Status ================================================ Sat, 05 Jul 2008 15:56:18 +0000 | Sat, 05 Jul 2008 15:15:03 +0000 | [ OK ] * Timestamp on gentoo.mirror.dkm.cz is Sat, 05 Jul 2008 12:38:22 +0000 * Current time in UTC is Sat Jul 5 15:55:58 UTC 2008 Tomas, what name would you like to be listed as?
Thank you Raúl, please name the mirror "UPC Česká republika, a.s.". Tomas
Tomas, I see a minor issue...when using ftp, the following file doesn't seem to be accessible : releases/.test/timestamp.x Can you please check? Thanks! We're able to access the same file fine when trying via http though, so I guess the issue is ftp/config specific.
FYI, gentoo-portage looks cool too. gentoo.mirror.dkm.cz is in sync, current lag : 26.33 mins Timestamp on Mirror : Mon, 07 Jul 2008 02:45:01 +0000 Current time in UTC : Mon, 07 Jul 2008 03:11:21 +0000
Hi, thanks for the input, releases/.test/timestamp.x should now be accessible by ftp as well. (did't expect dotfiles to appear in ftp). If there's anything else to fix, please let me know. t.
Hey ;-), is everything ok? What does happen now? t.
Tomas, I'm seeing issues. Distfiles (ftp and http) : *ERROR* : distfiles is over 5.5 hours behind, lag is : 139.55 hours Timestamp on Mirror : Mon, 07 Jul 2008 07:38:06 +0000 Current time in UTC : Sun, 13 Jul 2008 03:11:22 +0000 rsync (gentoo-portage) : *ERROR* : gentoo-portage mirror is lagging by over 40 mins, lag is : 86.47 mins Timestamp on Mirror : Sun, 13 Jul 2008 01:45:02 +0000 Current time in UTC : Sun, 13 Jul 2008 03:11:30 +0000 Can you please look into these?
Switched to different upstream mirrros. Should be fixed as soon as the distfiles mirror gets in sync again.
Is everything alright, or is there anything else to fix?
(In reply to comment #10) > Is everything alright, or is there anything else to fix? Looks good, adding you in. Thanks for helping out Gentoo. I have added your mirror to our list at http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors.xml. Please start syncing from masterdistfiles.gentoo.org as the email I have sent to you instructs. We would like you to subscribe to the gentoo-mirrors Mailing List by sending an email to gentoo-mirrors-subscribe@lists.gentoo.org, as we send out notifications of updates, releases, and changes in policy to the mirrors. Please also monitor http://mirrorstats.gentoo.org as this application is used to keep track of the up-to-date nature of our mirrors. I have added the IP you specified in the bug (86.49.49.49) to our access database, please start syncing to rsync1.us.gentoo.org per our Rsync document at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/rsync.xml. You are mirror rsync1.cz.gentoo.org in the rsync.cz.gentoo.org rotation. Once again, thanks for the hardware and bandwidth! For Infrastructure, Shyam Mani
