Description gentoo_bugs 2003-06-15 12:44:04 UTC
I'm using xfree-4.3.0-r3 and the 'via' - driver for the epia-m motherboards. The
driver works as usual, but is unable to play anything via mplayer.
Trying to play a movie, the whole XServer crashes, leaving very few informations
in /var/log/XFree86.0.log:

        This should not happen!
        An unresolved function was called!

Fatal server error:

When reporting a problem related to a server crash, please send
the full server output, not just the last messages.
This can be found in the log file "/var/log/XFree86.0.log".
Please report problems to xfree86@xfree86.org.

I get the same results.
I had a backup of the via_drv.o that I built myself off the original CVS release, and switching back to that fixed this problem.
Haven't had a chance to try newer CVS than what's included with 4.3.0-r3.

via driver has been removed from xfree 4.3.0

please use xfree 4.3.99.8 instead (use /etc/portage/profiles/package.unmask to unmask it)/.
