Description Lindsay Haisley 2008-06-19 17:03:11 UTC
Firefox 3 appears to have been rushed into stable, and some thought should be given to backing it down into unstable until conflicts are resolved. In particular, openoffice, devhelp, yelp and several other important packages depend on "mozilla-firefox-2.*" and ebuilds, or the binary apps themselves, will fail against firefox 3. If any of the depended packages are installed and emerge -u world is run, portage will back the firefox version down to 2.0.0.14 to satisfy these ebuilds even though mozills-firefox-3.0 is designated as the current stable version in the portage tree.

uh, what? firefox-3.0 is still in ~ARCH and rightfully so, it was only added yesterday. http://packages.gentoo.org/package/www-client/mozilla-firefox

Please don't assign bugs yourself unless you know what you are going.

My bad, Jeremy! - and sincere apologies for the noise. I worked very late into the night updating 4 different computers and my brain was fried. I looked at the ebuild and you're absolutely right. I had "~x86" on mozilla-firefox in package.keywords which caused the problem.
