I've tried to install the gentoo on my new notebook Compaq Presario 2144EA, but fail to launch X. Seems the chip is recognized but not totally initialized. Is the XFree-4.3 gentoo version supposed to totally support this chip ? can you emerge sync and then do the following please: ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" USE="radeon" emerge xfree-drm then try and restart X either that, or don't load the dri module
It should work, but not fully. Unfortunately DRI doesn't support the IGP 3*0 yet in 3D. 2D support is new as of xfree-drm-4.3.0-r3, as far as I know. http://bugs.xfree86.org//cgi-bin/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=36
Check this out for info about 3D support: http://bugs.xfree86.org/show_bug.cgi?id=314 I would love to see this ported over to gentoos xfree-4.3.0, but we'll probably have to wait for xfree-4.4.0, or maybe xouvert will already incorporate this, who knows?

Waiting for IGP patch to get integrated upstream..
Looking at the current driver (in modular) there appears to be support for the IGP 3*0 devices. The DRI warning isn't in the code according to a grep. I'll mark this as fixed for now, but feel free to re-open if this isn't the case.
