It seems to have some hanging issues, but it's not a regression as I've tested all the versions, 2.7 and 2.8 too and the behaviour is same.

xtermcontrol --bg=black works
xtermcontrol --get-geometry hangs
xtermcontrol --get-title works for xfce4's terminal, not for xterm

Not a regression -> amd64 stable
