Hello, I downloaded and tested your ebuild. Overall, not bad but I have attaced a patch that contains suggested changes to your ebuild. I have added the following: 1. Added Header information. I have added the header information to the top of your ebuild. 2. Changed description - According to puf home's page. Puf is a download tool for UNIX-like systems. I have changed your description to reflect that. 3. I have added the DEPEND,RDEPEND, and IUSE. 4. License - According to the puf. Puf is licensed as GPL and not LGPL. 5. Please add a changelog so the Gentoo developer know what you did. I would suggest net-misc for this package. If you make these changes then you would get my vote to add puf to portage. Thanks Chuck
Created attachment 13323 [details] corrected ebuild Hi Chuck, this is only the second ebuild I submit, thanks for pointing out and correcting my laciness! I feel especially pitty for getting the license wrong as I remember looking it up, but then obviously taking the wrong one. I patched the ebuild with your suggestions and added it again, hope this is the right way. I don't know how to add a Changelog though. So please some kind soul do it for me. I don't need any credits for this ebuild, just want to see it included in future Gentoo portages, so feel free to change whatever is wrong/missing and perhaps mention it in future versions of http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/ebuild-submit.xml Peter PS: The description was taking from wget, which was the base for puf, as I needed a tool like wget which could really produce load on a web-server.
Peter, I just tried your ebuild and it looks like it worked without a problem. I did not have a problem emerging it. If it were up to me I would put it into portage. Gentoo Developer, if someone can look at this ebuild and see If I forgotten anything. And if possible commit it to cvs. Thanks Chuck
