It appears that the Gentoo Xfce4 Overlay project is a good candidate for integration with layman. Currently, users wishing to access the 'live' ebuilds in this project must manually check-out the overlay to a directory on their Gentoo machine and ensure the path is added to PORTDIR_OVERLAY in make.conf. The attached file allows better integration of the overlay with layman. Uses need only download this file and add it into their layman.cfg file under the "overlays:" section. Ideally, the contents of the attached file could be merged into the 'official' layman overlay list so users need only install layman and add the Xfce4 overlay directly. It is understandable that this may not be wanted by the persons working on the overlay. In this case, I'd request that if it is ok, this file might be attached or added to the overlay (with any possible corrections needed) and the wiki front page be updated to inform people on using this file. eh? the xfce overlay has been in the layman file for quite some time now: date: 2007-08-09 20:28:09 +0200; author: drac; state: Exp; lines: +13 -1; commitid: 252a46bb5cb74567; Add xfce svn overlay to layman.
Hi Christoph, So it is! My mistake, apologies, closing this bug. Thanks for the fast response! Regards, Joshua Rich
Hi Christoph, On second thought, would it be possible to update the front page of the wiki to explicitly state that you can get the overlay through layman. At the moment, the only method mentioned is the manual subversion check-out. That was where my mistake came from, I assumed that the method outlined there was 'the way' of getting the overlay. Thanks and regards, Joshua Rich
