GDM 2.4.2.95 is out, and has some nice new features. The 2.4.1.4 ebuild works when renamed, but the problem is that they've changed the session system. Details follow Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. mv gdm-2.4.1.4.ebuild gdm-2.4.2.95.ebuild 2. ebuild gdm-2.4.2.95.ebuild digest 3. emerge gdm-2.4.2.95.ebuild 4. Restart gdm 5. Check session list Actual Results: Default.desktop, gnome.desktop, and two default sessions. (Corresponding to /etc/X11/dm/Sessions) Expected Results: Existant /etc/X11/Sessions. Please note that this is not simply a matter of moving files around. GDM sessions have been shell scripts so far, but now they've become INI-style files with .desktop extensions. I do not use KDE's KDM, but seeing as the .desktop files are very KDEish, perhaps they are compatible with KDE's session files.
i know about it, but it is the first release in a development cycle. This won't go in the tree until it reaches maturity.

it varies from project to project. in this case, 2.4.9x denotes the development version for 2.4.3 (i'd expect).
of course i mean 2.4.2.9x denotes dev version of 2.4.3 .. gah ..
gdm like bugbuddy has always had a somewhat off scheme. It isn't completely synced with the 2.3 cycle but tries to follow it.
GDM crashes when I try to configure the system, eg. System/Configure. There are only options to execute gnome not KDE... built gdm with the 2.3.3-r3 ebuild from breakmygentoo.net I'd rather be able to configure gdm altough Im a single user on this machine.

Besides, it would be much easier to see if emerge -s gdm actually said local/gnome-base/gdm Latest version available: 2.4.2.95 Latest version installed: 2.4.2.95 instead of just /gnome-base/gdm Then you'd know exactly what packade you installed. I won't bugreport gnome anymore, ever. bye.
