emerge sync'd, and an emerge -puD world wanted to downgrade a few of the packages I had recently upgraded. Sync'd again, this time with rsync2.us.gentoo.org (via the round robbin dns) and an update no longer wanted to downgrade me... :) The admin's given email address has a space, which to my knowledge is invalid?? Confirmed that mirror is out of sync. Removed from us and main rotation. Zane, can you check on this?
Hmm, I had changed the syncing mirror the other day when Kurt sent out a message about rsync1 having some issue with the data making its way from CVS to the rsync repository. Looking back at that message again though, it appears that it wouldnt have made any difference as none of the mirrors would have gotten anything. It has been syncing with rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage instead of just rsync1 for the last couple of days, so if it is out of sync a little that is probably why. On a lighter note, I've changed the motd a little to make it more clear that Zane is my name.. :) And I've changed the source back to rsync1, so within the next hour it should be up to date again according to my logs: Jul 25 18:00:00 fire CRON[28428]: (root) CMD (/opt/gentoo-rsync/rsync-gentoo-portage.sh) Jul 25 18:00:00 fire rsync: re-rsyncing the gentoo-portage tree Jul 25 18:01:01 fire CRON[18243]: (root) CMD (/bin/cp /dev/null /var/log/rsync.log) Jul 25 18:30:00 fire CRON[16080]: (root) CMD (/opt/gentoo-rsync/rsync-gentoo-portage.sh) Jul 25 18:30:00 fire rsync: re-rsyncing the gentoo-portage tree Jul 25 19:00:00 fire CRON[28240]: (root) CMD (/opt/gentoo-rsync/rsync-gentoo-portage.sh) Jul 25 19:00:00 fire rsync: re-rsyncing the gentoo-portage tree Jul 25 19:01:01 fire CRON[29013]: (root) CMD (/bin/cp /dev/null /var/log/rsync.log) Jul 25 19:30:00 fire CRON[168]: (root) CMD (/opt/gentoo-rsync/rsync-gentoo-portage.sh) Jul 25 19:30:01 fire rsync: re-rsyncing the gentoo-portage tree Jul 25 20:00:00 fire CRON[9435]: (root) CMD (/opt/gentoo-rsync/rsync-gentoo-portage.sh) Jul 25 20:00:00 fire rsync: re-rsyncing the gentoo-portage tree Jul 25 20:01:01 fire CRON[20299]: (root) CMD (/bin/cp /dev/null /var/log/rsync.log) Jul 25 20:30:00 fire CRON[23943]: (root) CMD (/opt/gentoo-rsync/rsync-gentoo-portage.sh) Jul 25 20:30:00 fire rsync: re-rsyncing the gentoo-portage tree Jul 25 21:00:00 fire CRON[7197]: (root) CMD (/opt/gentoo-rsync/rsync-gentoo-portage.sh) Jul 25 21:00:01 fire rsync: re-rsyncing the gentoo-portage tree [21:02:19] knalb@fire log $
I'm seeing connection refused now... a typo perhaps? Also, removed from the .namerica rotation as well (forgot it before). # rsync -avz rsync16.us.gentoo.org::gentoo-portage/ /tmp/trashme/ rsync.knalb.org(12.96.164.239) at The Planet admin: Zane <knalb@knalb.org> Location: Dallas, TX blah blah rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (1842 bytes read so far) rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(165)
Umm, I dont see that? I just tried it from my box at home and it went all the way untill i control-c'd it. There was a message on the mirror list about some mirrors timing out, and then immediately working, and they had mentioned it had something to do with the --compress? That's the only thing I can think of. Try it again. :)
Seems to be working now. Adding back to the rotations.
