The man page is out of date, it applies to the old (< 0.3.5) version of idesk. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.man idesk 2.compare to zless /usr/share/docs/idesk-0.5.5/README.gz Actual Results: no need to paste the output of 'man idesk' Expected Results: no need to paste output of 'zless /usr/share/docs/idesk-0.5.5/README.gz' If you do not create you config file including information contained in the README idesk will not load.
This isn't a job for the docs-team... Assigning to the bug wranglers so they can "donate" this bug to the correct herd.

The docs installed by the ebuild are straight out of the source distributed for idesk, so their discrepency is most likely an upstream problem.
Yea, there have not been man pages created for the 5 series. A nice gentoo dev orginally created the man pages for 3.5 (thanks again), and I won't get into a ton of documentation unless I'm out of things to code. I'll see if I can try to suggest someone to overhaul the idesk documentation. I don't think the 3.5 man pages should be with the 5.6 ebuild, but it is a semi-dev version and in unstable tree. The man pages are updated and commited to portage. Idesk-0.5.x now installs new man pages.
