The error is about a missing file, /usr/lib/gentoolkit/bin/find_pkgs.py to be exact.
What does equery check gentoolkit report? For some reason I think your gentoolkit installation got corrupted?
karsten ~ # qfile /usr/lib/gentoolkit/bin/find_pkgs.py app-portage/gentoolkit (/usr/lib/gentoolkit/bin/find_pkgs.py) karsten ~ # emerge --nodeps -vp gentoolkit These are the packages that would be merged, in order: [ebuild R ] app-portage/gentoolkit-0.2.3-r1 0 kB Total: 1 package (1 reinstall), Size of downloads: 0 kB Newer versions do not seem to own /usr/lib/gentoolkit/bin/find_pkgs.py.
Except app-portage/gentoolkit-0.2.3.1 perhaps, that is.
It reports: [ Checking app-portage/gentoolkit-0.2.3.1 ] * 71 out of 71 files good and there is no such file in the tarball.
(In reply to comment #3) > Except app-portage/gentoolkit-0.2.3.1 perhaps, that is. No, I checked. app-portage/gentoolkit-0.2.3.1 doesn't install or own that file.
You are correct. That file is missing in the 0.2.3.1 release. However, I'm not going to move forward with that release and will be removing the ebuild. I recommend utilizing gentoolkit-0.2.4* as I will be asking for it to go stable as soon as possible. If you really want to get a copy of the file, it can be downloaded from http://sources.gentoo.org/viewcvs.py/gentoolkit/trunk/src/revdep-rebuild/find_pkgs.py
